Welcome to the South Carolina Victim Assistance Academy (SCVAA) website. The SCVAA has been designed to train, educate and equip crime victim provider professionals with the most recent and current applicable information that will aid and assist crime victims statewide.

The SCVAA is an intense educational training program for victim advocates and victim service providers. During the event, participants are exposed to current, cutting edge practical knowledge and skill development regarding victimology, victim assistance, resources, victim assistance program policies and procedures, victim legislation, cultural issues, victim services, etc.

The benefits for participants include:

  1. Promoting excellence in service to crime victims.
  2. Assisting advocates/service provider professionals in meeting the needs of crime victims
  3. Encouraging collaboration, networking and partnerships
  4. Obtaining Victim Service Provider (VSP) Certification hours (attendees must attend full day(s) of academy in order to receive VSP hours).
SOVA is now accepting applications to the 2017 SC Advanced Victim Assistance Academy. Please go to the 2017 Advanced Application , fill out the application and mail to SOVA by September 1, 2017. Seating is limited to 30 participants and acceptance is based on completed and approved applications. Incomplete applications may not be considered.
